2023 Rugby world cup
Will the Bokkes take the cup home again?
By Qaqamba Matundu
The rugby world cup 2023 started on the 8th
of September and is expected to end later this month, the 28th of
October.
South Africans are head over heels
supporting the Springboks that are playing excellently, making the country
proud. A great victory by the team after a very tough match with France left South
Africans feeling like the country has won the world cup already.
After the match Siya Kolisi, the Springbok
captain said, “We crumbled a lot especially when we were short of numbers. It
was a tough game, it flowed, it was tough, physical, the way both teams played
outshone everything.”
ApNews said, “France played all the
attacking for the first hour and the crowd loved it, leaving South Africans to
feed of crumbs and cling on before suddenly swinging the momentum in the final
13 minutes when lock Eben Elzbeth made up for an earlier yellow card by barging
over near the posts.”
Bokkes are expected to play on the
semi-finals this coming Saturday the 21 October facing England, while Argentina
vs New Zealand will play Friday the 20th. In 2019 South Africa won
the game against England on the finals, now the question is “Can they do that
again on this coming match?”
After the fixtures of semi-final were
published South Africans were commenting on how Bokkes will win the match and
face New Zealand on the final. They believe that these teams are the ones
closing the 2023 rugby world cup. The pressure is at its high level.
