The current situation of the coming National elections

With elections in 2024, there is really nothing much to expect unless there are major political changes between now and voting time next year. Down south, things have been getting shaky with the ANC set for its elective conference this year.

President Cyril Ramaphosa is seeking a second term but the path to the December conference has so far been murky and slippery. Ramaphosa will need to survive several obstacles ahead of the congress as well as getting the support of his party. ANC is at its weakest during his tenure.

The upcoming national elections are important because, “We are in a profound national-crisis notably in the economic and security spheres, and there is no easy way out.. The choice we make in 2024 will substantially determine the future of our country and the next generation.

So much is at stake. I forewarn all that there is no messiah in sight. Anybody elected will be have limitations, but at least we are looking for that man or woman who can think, inspire action, mobilize and harness our diverse talent, rolls up his sleeve to work and radiate hope.” said Peterside

There will be challenges for the 2024 elections like challenges of heightened insecurity in most parts of the country and the commission must find ways and means of navigating through these challenges. These become difficult in situation where ad-hoc staffs are nervous at being deployed to conflict areas as they are not sure of their security.

“From the worsening insecurity to the inconclusive Electoral Amendment Bill and poor funding; the Independent National Electoral Commission is facing an uphill task ahead of 2024 elections.” said Ndidi

This time people need to elect wisely as their live are at stake.
